Until 1959 America supported a corrupt Cuban government that allowed the organized crime groups in America to operate in Cuba. This was the case until Fidel Castro took power through a communist revolution. All of the American organizations lost everything they had in Cuba during the nationalization of private wealth.America developed a plan to invade in The Bay of Pigs. Their idea was to train Cuban operatives to attack with the help of American air support. However at the last moment JFK denied the air support. This operation was the last chance for the criminals to regain their lost assets. In 1962 high altitude American spy planes discovered Russian nuclear weapons in Cuba. The US created a naval blockade to prevent any Russian ships from entering the region. This issue was resolved. I believe that the Cuban Missile Crisis did not have a major role in the assassination of JFK however the Bay of Pigs did. I believe that JFK's call to not provide air support on this mission angered the organized crime groups involved which then later caused them to want to eliminate him. Therefore because he failed to fight for their lost money and assets they called for his assassination.
After WWII America feared the spread of communism internationally. They focused first on winning over European states by essentially throwing money at them. After the creation of the Warsaw Pact and NATO, which dealt with Europe America shifted their focus globally and domestically. Americans used McCarthyism to domestically deter communism. Internationally they introduced the Eisenhower Doctrine. Similar to the Truman Doctrine, the Eisenhower Doctrine was focused on containment. However his method was through the creation of various collaborative groups. In South America the OAS was created. New Zealand and Australia were involved with the ANZUS. Southeast Asian countries joined SEATO. Lastly, Middle Eastern countries united under the title of CENTO. Together all of these organizations prevented the spread of Communism.
After WWII had come to an end the battle of ideals had begun. This battle was a political fight between democracy and communism. The two sides that were mostly involved were the USSR and America. America, obviously, advocated for democracy and therefore wanted to limit the spread of communism throughout Europe. The US implemented things such as the Truman Doctrine and the Marshall Plan. These two ideas allowed America to persuade countries throughout Europe that democracy was the way. Their method of persuasion was essentially throwing money at these countries in the hope that their response would be supportive. America attempted to win over various European countries in order to stop the spread of Communism by using those techniques. This process was known as containment.
